Made in the UK
At Furnitubes we believe in the positive promotion of UK manufacturing and the benefits that it brings to the UK economy. Manufacturing in the UK also offers a more sustainable solution, with transportation distances and associated environmental impacts minimised. Where components and materials are not available in the UK, we ensure that they are imported from responsibly managed and legally certified sources. All new products to the Furnitubes’ range are designed with this philosophy in mind and wherever you see our UK Made logo you can be assured that the product is manufactured in the UK.

Disability conscious It is essential that design for people with mobility impairments should be to the highest possible standards. Look out for the Wheelchair Symbol, which has been assigned to products that are Disability conscious, and incorporate the following guidelines: Bollards Bollards installed 1000mm or higher can aid the visually impaired. Reflective tape and colour contrast marking can help partially sighted people. Cycle Stands
Tapper bars can aid the visually impaired. Seating
In general, a variety of seating types in any one area is preferable, some of which should be suitable for the needs of the Disabled. Various seat heights and arm rests are an aid when alighting and ideally at least one armrest should be inset from the end of a seat to allow unrestricted lateral transfer from a wheelchair to the seat. Armests should also not restrict front or oblique transfer. A supportive back‑rest should be incorporated for at least 50% of the length of the seat. Refer to BS 8300:2009+A1:2010 Design of buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of disabled people – Code of practice for further guidance.
We have applied our Disability Conscious symbol only to product ranges that offer all such features, either on individual seats or across a number of products within the range, which when used together on a scheme will meet the needs of the Disabled.
