Brown Hart Gardens – Shortlisted for best new public space in the London Planning Awards
We are excited to announce that Brown Hart Gardens has been shortlisted for the best new public space in the London Planning Awards 2014. The Awards were set up to recognise and showcase the leading examples of regeneration projects in London - raising expectations and promoting good practice.
The judging criteria:
- Successful integration with surrounding uses
- Cost-effective future maintenance
- Established management regime
- Access for all
- Respect for all stakeholders
- Achievements which can be used as a model for work elsewhere
Furnitubes’ designers worked closely with the project team to produce bespoke seating and outdoor planters for the uniquely elevated site. Three basic design modules were supplied – planters and benches for the central deck area which could be moved around to allow the space to be adaptable for a variety of events and elegant heavy duty fixed seats for the perimeter of the site.
This grade II listed sub station now provides a tranquil setting for the general public, only minutes away from the heart of London’s busy West End.
The awards will be held on Tuesday 4th February, where the winners will be revealed. We wish everyone involved the best of luck. For more information on the London Planning Awards please visit http://www.londonplanningawards.com/index.php/awards
