2015 - The Review

As 2015 draws to a close, let's look back at some of the new designs and interesting projects from the last 12 months.

New products in 2015

Early 2015 saw the introduction of the Transit seating range, a robust modular seating system, ideal for transport hubs and interchanges. Next saw the launch of the pergone family, the first gabion style design across a coordinated range of products including benches, planters and site division walls. Later came the Lapa gabion seating platform, for adding to existing or new gabion walls, further broadening our collection of gabion based street furniture.

The biggest and most exciting new product for 2015 has been the popular new RailRoad outdoor seating range, a series of interchangeable straight and curved modules designed to be joined to create seamless runs of continuous seating. With a broad selection of slats, supports, backrests and armrests, RailRoad straight and curved benches and seats are highly adaptable. This inherent flexibility allows an almost endless variety of configuration possibilities, from straight lines to wave forms, circles and other geometrical patterns.

Last but not least, 2015 also saw the launch of the new Pinna cycle stand, the new Kinder picnic bench and a new addition to the Elements range, the Elements seats and benches with granite block ends.

Highlighted projects

We've been delighted to get involved in a range of projects through 2015 and some clear favourites have emerged. The design team has worked on some complex public schemes, including the redevelopment of Thomas More Square in the city, working closely with the Landscape Architects to create custom seats for the public seating areas. Everyone at Furnitubes was also incredibly proud to provide the bespoke seats for the International Bomber Command Centre, in time for veterans to use at the official launch of the Memorial Spire.

Whilst the two examples above stand out, we've been supplying street furniture to all manner of sites in the UK and beyond. In the Education sector, we've provided a wide selection of outdoor seating to establishments such as Cardiff and Vale College, Haberdashers' Aske's School for girls and George Green's school. The team has delivered an assortment of street furniture to a large number of residential schemes and public sites, from retail parks to leisure centres. Our products have played a part in the artist inspired regeneration of an area of Newport in Wales and you'll even find some of our concrete benches outside the zoo in Dudley in the West Midlands.
