Ronald McDonald House, Lambeth, London

Willmott Dixon

Project details:
Helping families for over 25 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities provide free 'home away from home' accommodation to families whilst their child is in hospital. In the UK alone there are 14 Ronald McDonald Houses all located close to specialist children's hospitals, ensuring families are just moments away from their child.

The latest Ronald McDonald House development built in Lambeth is designed to accommodate families who have children being treated at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

The new accommodation comprises 59 bedrooms, communal living areas such as kitchens, playrooms, lounges and laundry facilities. There was also a requirement for an outdoor rest area for families to use, and Furnitubes provided a number of Fordham steel and timber seats and benches. The new seating was situated under and around a timber pergola, completing the seating area whilst also providing a new peaceful outdoor space for families of patients.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

Ronald McDonald House Charities was founded in 1989 and has been keeping families together for more than 25 years. There are 14 Ronald McDonald Houses in the UK and in 2015, they helped support over 7,000 families with children in hospital. Ronald McDonald House Charities relies on the generosity of supporters and fundraisers, including McDonald’s customers, without whom it would be unable to continue its work. In 2014 alone, donations from McDonald’s customers via charity boxes totalled £3.2 million
