Project details:
The International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) near Lincoln was created to provide a world-class facility to serve as a point for recognition, remembrance and reconciliation for Bomber Command.  The official unveiling of the new Memorial Spire took place in October 2015, with over 300 Bomber Command veterans in attendance. The iconic spire and the walls of remembrance represent the first major development in the creation of the IBCC.  On completion the project will include the Chadwick Centre, the Bomber Command Digital Archive and the International Peace Garden.

Influence, the project landscape architects, sought an exterior seating design that could be manufactured in back-to-back form to allow visitors to view the remembrance walls in both directions and with a slight curve in plan to complement the circular layout of the pathways and walls that are arrayed around the central spire. RailRoad – a new seating range from Furnitubes – was the ideal choice, and our designers created a site-specific version that fitted perfectly into the scheme. With a steel support frame in a powder coated finish, and iroko hardwood timber slats, the seats offer a robust and comfortable seating solution in materials that complement the landscape palette of corten steel and gravel.
