Project details:
Manor House is a local neighbourhood sports ground, home to Abbots Langley Cricket Club and also including a football pitch, three tennis courts and a play area, with the village Community Centre building alongside. The tennis courts in particular were beginning to show their age, with a deteriorating playing surface and old chainlink fencing. As part of general improvement works to the Manor House ground, Three Rivers District Council sought to enhance the existing facilities to widen the use of the site beyond just sports club activities. The tennis courts were previously in a slightly over-large enclosure, so when new fencing was installed its alignment was changed to create a useful hardstanding space outside of the courts, to accommodate a small pavilion for the tennis club and to provide two permanently fixed outdoor table tennis tables. Seating was required around these new facilities, for use by tennis players awaiting their turn on the courts and parents to sit and watch their children, and also for placement alongside the table tennis tables. Two of Furnitubes’ standard range products were selected for Manor House – Veeva curved seating arranged in two horseshoe layouts for the general waiting area, covered by a tensile fabric canopy, and Elements Narrow high level benches that allow people to sit and watch table tennis games from a slightly elevated position. The facilities have been well received by the local community and are encouraging a more diverse range of visitors to the sports ground.
