Project details:
The Montem Ice Arena in Slough, Berkshire, was originally built in 1986 and over the years has been home to many groups and clubs, including the Slough Jets ice hockey team. With heavy use and a lack of investment over the years, the building became tired and in need of full renovation. As part of Slough Borough Council’s £60million investment into regenerating leisure facilities across the town, £7.7million was invested in the refurbishment and extension of the Ice Arena. Works began in February 2017, including the demolition of the original front entrance, removal of the external cladding as well as significant mechanical and electrical upgrading.

Furnitubes’ Core concrete seating range was selected as part of the external landscaping works, with fifteen 4-person concrete benches supplied in a white acid-etched finish, placed along the edge of the entrance walkway.

The completed facility features a brand new extended ice rink, a climbing centre, café and gym as well as a new spectator seating area.
