RailRoad® modular outdoor timber seating and planters
Create bespoke schemes with standard, off-the-shelf, modules
Imagined by our in-house design team, the RailRoad range was inspired by model train tracks and is based on a simple series of interchangeable standard - straight and curved - modules that can be assembled in any way to create seamless unique schemes, without blowing the budget.
RailRoad outdoor timber seating is based around a standard module tension sections at one end. Straights and curves can be mixed to create interesting configurations that comfortably accommodate two people, while the start and end units also include small exations, while a double-end unit offers a small independent seating solution to complement longer assemblies. Double-width seating and complementary planters, which can be added at any point along a seating run, are the latest additions to the range.
With three styles of support and timber profile combinations and an extensive choice of extras such as backrests, armrests, tablets and chaise longues, the opportunities are endless.
RailRoad seating and benches are delivered in pre-assembled modules, for quick and easy installation on-site.
Seating features:
- A choice of three timber profile and seat support combinations
- 3 standard radii for curved versions
- Armrest and tablet options
- Backrests, including internal (inward-facing seating) and external (outward-facing seating) on curved modules
- Chaise-longue additions to straight benches
Planter features:
- Can be added at the start or end, or within a seating run
- A choice of four lengths and two height options
- Straight and curved seating units can be joined to planters
- Use in conjunction with any seat support type (only square-ended ‘Edge’ timbers)
- Can also be used as independent planters
Supports:
- Edge: This style is defined by square-form timbers and sharp visual characteristics. It is a popular choice on contemporary architectural developments
- Loop: Bench slats who’s side profiles are reminiscent of a lollipop stick. The rounded-end slats offer a greater degree of comfort for the sitter and, with a central circular support post, this style is visually softer than other options
- Delta: Angled-back slat ends and a complementary profile to the under-seat support give the Delta style its refined aesthetics
Materials and finishes:
- Recycled steel frame and seat supports for bolt-down surface fixing
- Triple processed to a standard RAL colour
- Iroko timber seat slats
- Polyester powder coated steelwork to any RAL reference
- Timbers with UV protective finish
Seat slats are offered in Iroko timber as standard which changes in colour over time from UV exposure. To maintain its original look and feel , we recommend treating the timber with a UV protective coating that will preserve a richer colouration over a longer period of time compared with untreated timber.
